One's Observations

A collection of some things I observe along the way.

STAY AWAY FROM OUR KIDS!!!

The Michigan mom that has been reprimanded by her local government for watching some neighbor's kids before the bus arrives:

"Each day before the school bus comes to pick up the neighborhood's children, Lisa Snyder did a favor for three of her fellow moms, welcoming their children into her home for about an hour before they left for school."

"Regulators who oversee child care, however, don't see it as charity. Days after the start of the new school year, Snyder received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services warning her that if she continued, she'd be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers." The government is moving towards controlling our children's life earlier and earlier:

"In April, $2 billion from the stimulus package was earmarked for states to support child-care services for families where parents are working, seeking employment, or getting job training. The funds will be used to provide greater access to child care for families and to invest in quality improvements."

“There’s no way we can solve this problem without adding public funding, as many other countries do, and as we do with public education,” Ellen Bravo says. “If we want a stable workforce, investing in child care will not only help improve the school-readiness and work-preparedness of children, but it will also improve parents’ ability to stay employed.” (Parade Magazine Article)

Just a thought...why do we need a Kids.gov, ChildCare.gov, and federal Child Care Bureau??

"...as many countries do..."

That says it all. OTHER countries slough off parenting jobs on THEIR gummit! Why can't WE do the SAME?
That way, parents can go about the business of making more voters ... err, I mean children! Freudian? You be the judge. We AREN'T "other" countries!

Parental responsibility and accountability must be made a priority over dipping in the public trough to cover the lack of it. There are some aspects of child rearing that parents simply MUST accomplish without the "aid" of a bloated and irresponsible gummit.
