One's Observations

A collection of some things I observe along the way.

Retrieving...

"The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index .BADI, which tracks rates to ship dry commodities, stayed at over a three-month low on Monday as slack demand and slower cargo inquiry hurt sentiment."

"The index, which gauges the cost of shipping resources including iron ore, cement, grain, coal and fertilizer, dropped 1.26 percent or 31 points to 2,437 points on Monday, and was at its lowest since May 14." (Reuters Article)

What is the Baltic Exchange Dry Index?

The Baltic Exchange Dry Index is basically the measurements of international shipping of raw goods from wheat to iron ore. This is been noted by many financial analysts as a type of leading indicator of coming market trends. If the BADI is dropping that indicates future manufacturing and production will drop because there are no raw materials being shipped to produce anything.
